Description:

The article presents an original proposal to improve the efficiency of anchoring steel fibers in fibroconcrete mixtures. The expected effect was obtained by developing the surface of the fibers by mechanical abrasive treatment with electrocorundum. The main part of the work presents the results of the conducted experimental studies. The effect of the surface treatment of the fibers was investigated by means of metallographic techniques, using a metallographic microscope and equipment for determining the surface roughness. On the other hand, the direct method of assessing the effectiveness of fiber anchoring in the concrete was determined with the use of the Pull – Out test. The results of these studies were subjected to detailed analysis and statistical processing. The results of metallographic and Pull – Out tests indicate that the proposed method of treating the fibers significantly affects their anchoring efficiency in the concrete matrix. According to the author, this may be of great practical importance, because the discussed method of treating the fibers can significantly improve the general properties of fibrocomposite mixtures.
